Ice Booze Vertical Ice Luge

TIPS

Directions for Making the Halloween Ice LugeHalloween Ice Luge

First, get some orange Kool-Aid plus a different color for the eyes and mouth. Next, pre-mix the orange Kool-Aid with water (the more Kool-Aid you use the darker the luge). Pour the mix into the mold to the first water mark and then let freeze. Repeat the process until the mold is filled and frozen. Remove the mold and then chisel out the eyes and mouth with a sharp utensil or Dremel. Now, mix different colored Kool-Aid with water and carefully pour into the eyes. Put the luge back into the freezer and repeat the process for the mouth once the eyes have frozen. Enjoy…

Transporting Your Ice Booze Ice Luge

First, always attempt to keep the ice luge bagged (plastic) and placed in a cooler. Then pack ice around the luge. If you are only transporting one luge and the mold is available, simply set the ice luge back into the mold. This acts as a great insulator and will keep anything from sticking to the ice. It also has an excellent handle. If you are transporting multiple luges, bag each one so they will not stick to each other or the surrounding ice.

Margarita Ice LugeFlavoring an Ice Booze Ice Luge

Try freezing soda, drink mixes or concentrated juice such as margarita mix, strawberry daiquiri or orange juice. If you are a little short on time try diluting the mix. Due to the fact that salts and sugars will increase the normal freezing time, we recommend dropping the freezer temperature to get a good solid luge. These are a lot of fun!

The more alcohol that is poured through the luge the more flavor you will taste.

Coloring an Ice Booze Ice Luge

Flag Ice LugeWe have found that Kool-Aid has the most vivid colors opposed to food coloring. The flag luge is created with several different colors next each other. It is crucial to chill the water before adding to the mold as this will reduce the bleeding from one color to the next.

For vertical colors simply set the mold on its side and freeze.

For clear ice use distilled water. This will significantly reduce the white that naturally occurs from tap water.

Creating Different Runs in Your Ice Booze Ice Luge

Daiquiri Ice LugeTo make a coil, spin, or zig zags attach the hose to the lower nipple and coil the hose inward. The “Cannonball” is a straight down chute and is always a party favorite.

For twists and turns angle the hose in the top clamp thus making the hose go different directions. These adjustments can be made throughout the freezing process creating a different design every time. Make sure that when designing your run the hoses never get too close to each other as it will create a thin spot, which will reduce the amount of time the ice luge is functioning.

Reducing Freezing Time for an Ice Booze Ice Luge

If you are in a time crunch to get a Ice Booze ready for an event there are ways to reduce the freezing time. First, get the water as cold as possible before adding it to the luge. You may also add ice into the luge itself. Then, lower the freezer temperature as this will significantly reduce freezing time.

Storing an Ice Booze Ice Luge

For storing an Ice Booze for two weeks or less you may just remove the ice from the mold and keep it in the freezer. If you are making a lot of luges for a large event place each luge in a plastic bag, because ice will deteriorate over time.

Creating a Fog Effect Around the Ice Booze Ice Luge

Plug the hole in the drip tray then break up dry ice and put it in the run-off channel of the drip tray. Add a small amount of water and the ice luge will look like it is floating on a cloud. (Whenever working with dry ice always wear gloves to avoid burning the skin.)

Pouring your Beverage into an Ice Booze Ice Luge

If you are taking straight shots directly from the bottle, pour spouts work great (like the ones bartenders use). If you are making mixed shots such as Kamikaze or Washington Apple, a premixed sports bottle works excellent. Each of these methods will reduce the risk of spillage.
